The Gator Swim Team won the Large Division Championship in the Southeast Missouri Swim Conference meet July 23 in Sikeston, Mo.

The Cape Girardeau-based team, with 85 swimmers, scored 1,150 points. Runner-up Kennett, with 99 swimmers, scored 849. The Scott City Dolphins placed third (297) and the Jackson Barracudas placed fourth (249).

The Farmington Area Swim Team finished seventh overall among 11 teams and won the Small Division with 169 points from its 18 swimmers. The Perryville Piranhas were 10th overall with 102 points.

The Gators had four high-point winners, including: Jenny Powell in the 9- and 10-year-old girls division with 27, followed by teammate Kyleigh Troxel with 25; Ramsey Scott in the 9 and 10 boys division with 25; Hannah Kinder in the 15 through 18 girls division with 27; Kris Metje and Steffan Troxel tied in the 15 to 18 boys division with 27 each.

Jackson had two high-point winners: Ryan Gibson in the 11 and 12 boys division with 27 and Greg Gibson in the 13 and 14 boys with 27. Matt Gibson was third among 9 and 10 boys with 23, two points behind the Gators' Scott.

The event featured 30 conference records, including the Gators' 13 and 14 girls 200-meter freestyle relay of Anne Wolpers, Mary Catherine Ford, Jessica Baker and Audrey Glover, which finished in 2 minutes, 10.09 seconds; the Gators' 13 and 14 boys 200 medley relay team of Sam Gramling, Caleb Statler, Peyton Waggoner and Raymond Woldtvedt in 2:11.20; the Gators' 15 to 18 boys relay teams in the 200 freestyle (Kris Metje, Nicholas Welker, David Welker, Steffan Troxel, 1:51.85) and the 200 medley (David Welker, Metje, Troxel, Hunter Givens, 2:04.34); Hannah Kinder of the Gators in the 15 to 18 girls 50 freestyle (29.14) and 100 freestyle (1:01.94); Alex Anne Troxel of the Gators in the 15 to 18 girls 100 butterfly (1:13.41); Ryan Gibson of Jackson in the 11 and 12 boys 50 backstroke (32.90) and 50 butterfly (31.82); Greg Gibson of Jackson in the 13 and 14 boys 200 IM (2:26.30); and Steffan Troxel of the Gators in the 15 to 18 boys 50 freestyle (24.99), 100 freestyle (54.92), and 100 backstroke (1:03.86).
