DALLAS -- Bill Guerin scored 24 seconds into overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 2-1 victory over the Blues on Saturday night in an exhibition game.

Guerin skated to the net and backhanded Sergei Zubov's lead pass by Fred Brathwaite to give the Stars the victory. Guerin's penalty late in the third period set up the Blues' tying goal.

Sergei Varlamov's power-play rebound with 53 seconds left in regulation pulled the Blues into a 1-1 tie while Guerin was off for tripping.

Scott Young scored a power-play goal in the first period, and Marty Turco made 19 saves for Dallas (4-4).

Young scored from the right point at 7:17 of the first period after the puck hit the skate of a St. Louis player in front of the net.

Brathwaite, who had been out with a groin injury and was making his first preseason appearance, stopped Mike Modano on a penalty shot at 17:32 of the first period.

Brathwaite made 25 saves for St. Louis (4-4).
