Abbie Reece scored 15 points to lead the Cape Central girls basketball team to its first win of the season, 61-57, over Perryville in the fifth-place game of the Fredericktown Tournament on Saturday at Fredericktown High School.

The Tigers (1-3) used a strong first quarter to hold on for victory as the Pirates slowly climbed their way back into a contest that featured 58 fouls and 73 free throws.

Perryville (1-2) was paced by 22 points from senior forward Emma Nelson.

Central got nine points apiece from Abbey Dumey and Corrie Reece. Falia Hamilton, Katherine Morton and Quetaja Martin each hauled in nine rebounds.

The game was a foul fest, with five players fouling out between the two teams.

The Tigers return to acton Monday against host Park Hills Central while the Pirates will take on Jefferson at home.

Jessie Gartman scored a team-high 24 points to lead Eagle Ridge to the home win over Liberty Christian.

Emily Jackson added 10 points for Eagle Ridge (3-3), which outscored Liberty Christian 12-5 in the third quarter to pull away with the win.

Matilyn Voss paced Liberty Christian with a game-high 31 points while Jenna Grow finished with 10 points.

Andrew Voss scored a game-high 19 points to lead Liberty Christian to the road win over Eagle Ridge.

Hunter Jones led Eagle Ridge (1-5) with 11 points while Caleb Friedrich added 10 points.

Parkway South Tournament

The Jackson wrestling team traveled to Parkway South for early-season tournament action and finished third out of 12 teams.

The Indians notched 335 points, finishing behind Francis Howell (410) and winner Lafayette (462). Jackson won its dual competitions versus McClure North, Parkway South, Vianney, Columbia Hickman and Francis Howell North.

Individually, Jackson's Jake Byrd finished first in the 132-pound weight class.

Five Indians finished second in their weights -- Gus Guilliams (120), Shawn Barditer (126), Calvin Dudley (170), Zach Norrick (182) and Trevor Smith (195).

Cole Walker placed third at 138, and Reilly Mansker was fourth at 113.

In the junior varsity tournament, Jackson finished second, behind Lafayette.

The Cape Central wrestling team went 1-4 on the mat, picking up a dual-meet victory over Paducah Tilmon, 29-18, for its lone win of the day.

The Tigers fell to McGavock (Tenn.) 64-12, Marion (Ill.) 75-5, McCracken County (Ky.) 30-27 and Kennett 36-27.

Central senior Logan Wright went 5-0 in his matches, racking up three pins, a technical fall and a forfeit.
