All the local high school events reported Saturday to the Southeast Missourian.

Central senior Matt Chism threw a no-hitter in a 12-1 win over Affton in a game played at the VFW Stadium in Sikeston on Saturday afternoon. The no-hitter was the first for the Tigers since 2005.

Chism did surrender an unearned run in the first inning when the Tiger's shortstop made an error allowing a base runner, who walked earlier in the inning, to score easily from third. Chism was in command the rest of the way, striking out 12 batters and walking four in seven innings.

Chase Hagerty went 4 for 4 for the Tigers. He had two doubles, two singles and three RBIs in the win.

Central (7-12) did not have as much like in Game 2 of the day, giving up 13 hits and 11 runs in an 11-7 loss to Sikeston (7-7).

Notre Dame 10, Triad 5

Josh Haggerty had a triple and three RBIs as Notre Dame (15-1) defeated Triad (Ill.) at home on Saturday as part of the Notre Dame Showcase.

Triad scored all five of its runs in the first inning, forcing the Bulldogs to go to their bullpen. Dean Crippen picked up the win, striking out one batter and walking one in two innings of work. Josh Jansen went 2 for 3 with the Bulldogs only double of the game.

Notre Dame 6, Crocket County 1

Josh Haggerty picked up the win in Notre Dame's second game of the day.

He went the distance striking out seven and allowing Crocket County just one run on three hits.

Josh Jansen and Griffin Seibert went 2 for 3 with an RBI in the Bulldogs win.

Jackson 11, Shawnee 3

Jackson's Jarret Hutchinson had five RBIs, including a grand slam, to lead the Indians over Shawnee (Ill.) at home.

Hutchinson had a double later in the game and finished 2 for 3.

Jackson starting pitcher Tyler Slinkard went 6 2/3 innings to earn the win.

Slinkard gave up three earned runs on eight hits, walked one and struck out one.

Central Invitational

Jackson's Dylan Rush and Dakota Maddox swept the top two spots in the boys pole vault at the Cape Central Invitational.

Rush cleared 15 feet, 6 inches while Maddox's was second at 14 feet.

On the girls side, Jackson also swept in the pole vault.

Sierra Maddox placed first with a height of 12-6 while Shannon Davis finished second at 10-6.

Rush and Sierra Maddox are ranked first in the state in the pole vault.

Jackson's Blake Reiman took first in the boys long jump and high jump. His jump of 20-3 was an inch better than Union's second place finisher, Ryan Schumaker. Rieman tied with Mehlville's Matt Mik in the high jump. Both had jumps of 5-10.

Jackson freshman Carli Knott won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.50 seconds.

Knott and teammates Ana Compton, Chelsea Drum and Taylor Winnick won the 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 9:46.09, beating out Parkway Central by more than 30 seconds.

Jackson's Jack Jeffers took the 800-meter race with a time of 2:02.49.

Drum also won the 800 and 1600-meter dashes. She finished with a time of 2:25.62 in the 800 and a 5:20.50 finish in the 1600.

The Notre Dame tennis team took first in team competition at the Poplar Bluff Invitational. Ben Wedemeier won the singles event, beating teammate Ethan Derrington 8-6. In doubles, Mason Seesing and Brendan Boswell won their match without dropping a set as did Alex Wikel and Dalton Stroup.
