High school roundup: Freshman sparks Oran girls basketball team in opener

Freshman Leah Cauble scored a game-high 18 points and had six assists as the Oran girls basketball team opened its season with a 54-31 win over visiting Malden on Monday.

Jessie Long recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Oran (1-0), while Ashlyn McIntosh notched 10 points and nine rebounds. The Eagles' Tatum May finished with six steals and four assists.

Tebrya Benson sank 11 points to lead Malden (0-1), which was held to single-digit scoring in each quarter.

Kylie Wilhite netted a game-high 18 points and tallied four rebounds and two assists for Chaffee (1-0, 1-0 Scott-Mississippi Conference). Katie Glueck added 10 points for the Red Devils.
