After rallying from a halftime deficit to take a third-quarter lead, the Cape Central girls basketball team let a road victory get away from them as Jefferson (Festus) returned the comeback favor to defend its home floor 61-57 on Monday night in Festus, Missouri.

The Tigers (3-9) took a 44-42 advantage into the final eight minutes, but the Blue Jays (8-6) out-scored them 19-13 in the last period.

Central got 16 points each from sisters Corrie and Abbie Reece in the loss.

Jefferson's Hilah Fish led all scorers with 20 points, while Hanna Floyd and Mackenzie Null each pitched 15.

A slow start gave way to a strong final three quarters as the Cardinals dropped the visiting Indians to move to 10-5 on the season.

Mara Grindstaff posted a game-high 17 points for Woodland, which also saw Krista Rhodes add 16 points and Hannah Scott score 10.

Puxico was paced by Kay Pierre's 14 points.

Kylie Bilek scored a game-high 25 points for the Pirates, but it wasn't enough to overcome the team's sluggish start as it fell on the road.

Valle jumped out to a 21-9 advantage after one quarter, and that was enough to withstand the Perryville (5-9) rally.

The Warriors' Sydni Basler matched Bilek's output with 25 points and Katie Heil pitched in with 16.

Kelly (3-9) opened up the game with 24 points in the first quarter and never looked back. It got a game-high 15 points from Mallory Urhahan. Alyssa Tidwell (13), Marissa Jones (13) and Anna Hughes (10) all scored double digits for the victors.

The Rams (1-8) were led by nine points from Tori Buckner.
