Senior Karsen Powers finished with a game-high 11 points as the Notre Dame girls basketball team posted a 45-28 home victory over Kennett on Thursday.

Like many teams in the region that have been out of action due to the icy winter weather, it was the first game this week for Notre Dame. The Bulldogs last played Saturday when they defeated Kirkwood for the championship of the Queen of Hearts Tournament in the suburban St. Louis area.

"Coming off a big tournament win like that, we hit the ground running and the snow days halted us a bit," Notre Dame coach Renee Peters said. "We've been off the last two days and haven't practiced since Monday. We were a little sluggish, a little sloppy, but were able to pull out the win."

Annie Siebert and Shelby Beussink both scored 10 points apiece for Notre Dame, which improved to 15-1. The Bulldogs' sole loss this season came at the hands of Cor Jesu Academy, a Class 5 school in the St. Louis area.

Halle Lynch recorded six rebounds and six steals for the Bulldogs and Taylor Feeney grabbed five rebounds.

Kennett's Khadijah Whitfield and Heidi Shetley each finished with eight points to pace the Indians (10-9).

The Bulldogs will host Notre Dame (St. Louis), which is 10-5, on Saturday.
