The Bulldogs took second with five top 20 finishes on Saturday.

The Notre Dame girls cross country team grabbed five of the top 20 spots, including Alaina Baumgart's ninth-place finish to lead the Bulldogs to a second-place finish on Saturday at the Potosi Invitational.

Alleigh Emmendorfer crossed 12th with a time of 21 minutes, 4 seconds, while Katie Hanners finished two seconds behind her for a 13th-place finish.

"The girls ran as a pack today -- something we've tried to focus on -- and it really produced good results," Notre Dame cross country coach Bill Davis said.

On the boys side, Notre Dame senior Michael Peters placed eighth with a time of 17:26.00 to lead the Bulldogs.

Brock Kasten finished 12th and Matt Gibbs placed 21st to round out the Bulldogs top three.

Notre Dame finished seventh in team standings with 157 points.

Jackson 3, Oakville 1

Aaron Boshage and Hunter Crowden scored a goal apiece in the first half to lead the Indians past the Tigers on the road.

Josh Scholl added a goal in the second half. Kyle Bryant provided the assist.

Liam Gray also had an assist for the Indians in the first half.

Goalkeeper Brayden Emmons had six saves for Jackson (10-7-1) in the win.

Principia 6, Saxony 1

Jacob Wunderlich scored the Crusaders' lone goal in a loss to the Panthers on the road.

Saxony goalie Jacob Stueve had 11 saves in the loss.

The Crsuaders fell to 4-12-1 on the season.

VOLLEYBALL

Festus Invitational

The Bulldogs went a perfect 6-0 in pool play and advanced to a semifinal before losing to Farmington 25-17, 25-21 in the Festus Invitational tournament.

Notre Dame (21-6-1) defeated DeSoto, Seckman and Hillsboro on its way to a semifinal matchup against the Knights.

Abbie McAlister led the Bulldogs with 20 kills, while Lydia Goodson added 13 kills.

Sam Feeney paced Notre Dame with 14 digs and 13 assists.

Notre Dame will be the third seed in the Class 3 District 1 tournament, which begins on October 20 at Dexter High School.

The Bulldogs will play sixth-seeded Doniphan at 5 p.m.
