All the local high school events reported Tuesday to the Southeast Missourian.

Notre Dame's double team of Carly Hopkins and Reagan Kapp qualified for doubles play at the Class 1 state tennis tournament with a Sectional 1 sweep Tuesday in Potosi, Mo.

Hopkins and Kapp defeated North County's Molly McBride and Rachel LeMarr 6-0, 6-1.

The duo will compete at the state tournament Oct. 19 and 20 in Springfield, Mo.

BOYS SOCCER

Jackson 4, Seckman 3

Two kicks by Keagan Cavanah gave way for the Indians' overtime win on the road.

Jackson was down 3-1 with 7 minutes left on the clock when Cavanah scored the two goals that forced overtime.

Austin Gammon scored the game-winning goal for the Indians off a pass from Mikey Depuy.

Gammon assisted on Cavanah's game-tying goal, while Ryan Harvey assisted on Cavanah's first goal.

Jackson's Kendall Townsend scored the first goal unassisted.

Goalkeeper Ben Johnston recorded seven saves for the Indians (6-8-1).

Eagle Ridge 8, Westwood Baptist 1

Aaron Margrabe scored three goals and had one assist in the Eagles' road win.

Eagle Ridge's Michael Perez and Jordan Cliff both added two goals and two assists. Josh Frederich scored the other goal, and Nathan Davis had one assist.

Goalkeeper Caleb Cerney snagged six saves for the Eagles (5-7-1).

VOLLEYBALL

SCAA tourney

Top-seeded Advance (22-3-1) rolled past host No. 8 Bell City (4-17-2) 25-13, 25-12 in a quarterfinal match of the Stoddard County Activities Association Conference tournament.

The Hornets will play No. 4 Puxico at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Puxico eliminated fifth-seeded Woodland (11-13-1) 25-11, 25-10 in Monday night's first-round game when it avenged an earlier loss to the Cardinals.

Second-seeded Dexter (20-6) coasted to victory over No. 7 Richland (6-16) 25-13, 25-7 in Tuesday's other quarterfinal match. The Bearcats will face third-seeded Bernie (18-7) for the third time this season at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Championship and third-place matches will be played Friday.

Miranda Fowler had seven kills and served four aces in the Bulldogs' win at home.

Myriah Bernard contributed seven kills, while Taylor Ward dished out 12 assists for Notre Dame (22-1-1).

JV -- Notre Dame won in two sets.

Saxony 25 19 25 Doniphan 12 25 18

Jordan Hoff led with eight kills in the Crusaders' three-set road victory.

Natalie Mueller and Courtney Bergman both had six kills and six digs. Lauren Hecht also contributed six digs, while Kirsti Pohlman hadt 24 assists and nine digs for Saxony Lutheran (16-8).

JV -- Saxony Lutheran won 25-18, 25-19

GIRLS GOLF

Class 1 Sectional 1

Notre Dame qualified three golfers for the state tournament at Monday's Class 1 Sectional 1 at Eldon Country Club in Eldon, Mo.

Senior Morgan Schumer led the way with a seventh-place finish at 16-over-par 87. Juniors Amy Blattel and Camille Brewer both shot 93 to tie for 17th. Schumer and Brewer also qualified for the tournament last season.

The Bulldogs finished third in the team standings with a 394. Westminster, which featured medalist Brooke Cusumano (71), placed first at 328. Villa Duchesne was second at 362. The top two teams and top 12 individuals not on the qualifying teams advanced to the state meet Oct. 15 and 16 at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, Mo.
