The Scott City baseball team mustered only five hits but held off Senath-Hornersville 5-4 on Saturday to advance to the 4th Annual Ste. Genevieve/Valle Catholic Opening Day Tournament championship in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.

The Rams will take on Valle Catholic for the tournament title at a time and date that has yet to be determined.

Dakota Talley pitched a complete game for Scott City (3-0), allowing 12 hits and four runs -- all earned. He had four walks and no strikeouts.

Braden Cox had a triple to lead the Rams at the plate, while Ty Wilthong finished with a pair of base hits.

Lathan Brooks pitched 3 2/3 innings to pick up the loss on the mound for the Lions. He struck out four, walked five and allowed three hits and four runs -- all earned.

Cesar Moncada and Austin Autry each had three hits to lead Senath-Hornersville (2-1) on offense.

Kade Sullivan finished 2 for 4 at the plate, including a walk-off, game-winning single that lifted the Red Devils to a win in eight innings over the Crusaders.

Landon Tenkhoff started and threw six innings for Chaffee (3-0). He had eight strikeouts and four walks. Breven Yarbro threw one inning of relief and had a strikeout to pick up the pitching win.

Tyler Amos was tagged with the loss for Saxony Lutheran (1-1). He pitched two innings, had one strikeout and two walks and allowed one hit and one earned run.

Landon Tenkhoff finished 3 for 3 with a double to lead the Red Devils at the plate, while Austin Copeland added three hits and AJ Owens added two.

Nathan Bolin took the loss for Oak Ridge (1-1).

The Crusaders scored 13 runs in the first inning and cruised to victory over the Blue Jays.

Paris Johnson finished 2 for 3 with a double to lead Saxony (1-0) while also earning the win on the mound. He pitched three innings, allowed no runs and no hits, struck out eight and walked two.

Tyler Amos and Andrew Hartmann each added a pair of hits for the Crusaders, while Dustin Lorenz finished 3 for 4.

Behind a pair of solid arms, the Indians swept a doubleheader against Pirates at home.

Gavon Turner picked up the win on the mound, finishing with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings of work. He allowed one hit and one earned run. Jarrett Newell had a pair of base hits for Jackson (3-0).

Brayden Emmons picked up the pitching win for the Indians in the second game. He had two strikeouts and three walks, allowing four hits and one run -- none earned. Newell pitched 2/3 of an inning to pick up the save, while Ryan Mize finished with a pair of hits, including a double.

Kaitlyn Johnson's goal lifted the Hawks past the Cougars in the season-opening game at home.

Marissa Johnson provided the assist for Kelly (1-0), while Tori Duenne and Taylor Crank combined for the shutout in the net.

Kelly 10, Paragould (Ark.) 2

Emmy Bolen, Savannah Whitten and Hailey Noon each tallied a pair of goals, leading the Hawks in the home win over the Rams.

Lindsey Powers finished with a goal and four assists for Kelly (2-0), while Anna Hughes, Maegan Walker and Abigail Ratledge each contributed a goal and an assist.

Marissa Jones and Meghan Foley also added a goal apiece for the Hawks.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Notre Dame 25 25, St. Francis Borgia 14 8

The Bulldogs won their season opener on the road Saturday.

Sam Dohogne finished with six kills for Notre Dame (1-0), while Evan Landewee recorded five kills and eight assists and Blake Dunlap finished with four kills and seven assists.

Mitchell Kramer chipped in four serve aces and six digs for the Bulldogs.
