All the local high school events reported Monday to the Southeast Missourian.

Rachel Poole scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the seventh inning that allowed top-seeded Woodland to fend off an upset scare from fourth-seeded Bernie in the semifinals of the Stoddard County Activities Association softball tournament Monday.

The 9-8 victory was Woodland's 10th win of the season and booked a spot in today's championship match in Puxico, Mo.

Kathlyn Cooper picked up the win in the circle. She pitched a complete game, recorded five strikeouts and no walks. She also drove in three runs.

Josie Long added a two-RBI triple for Woodland (10-4).

Blakely Bradshaw suffered the loss in the circle. She also pitched a complete game, recording six strikeouts and three walks.

Tori Lowrey went 4 for 4 and drove in three runs for Bernie (7-8). The Mules advanced to the semifinals with a 10-0 win over fifth-seeded host Puxico earlier in the day.

Woodland will face Advance today at 4 p.m. for the title. The third-seeded Hornets defeated No. 6 Bloomfield 14-4, then upset second-seeded Dexter 7-2 in other action Monday.

Chase Hagerty threw a three-hit shutout and blasted a home run in the Tigers' road victory.

Hagerty (4-2) struck out seven and walked one.

Matt Chism had three hits for the Tigers (6-10), including a double. Kaleb Ward also had a double among his two hits.

Layton Tenkhoff doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Red Devils in the five-inning conference road rout.

Storm Estes, the winning pitcher, gave up three hits over two innings. He struck out three batters and did not issue a walk.

Cole Hanna went 2 for 2 and batted in three runs for Chaffee (14-1).

Drake Kesler took the loss on the mound for the Braves. He allowed seven earned runs in one inning.

Winning pitcher Jake LeGrand had two hits, including a double, to lead the Blue Jays in the road win.

LeGrand threw five innings, giving up one earned run on three hits. He struck out seven and walked three.

Kelby Brown and Andrew Puchbauer also had two hits apiece for Oak Ridge (5-2).

Korbin Ruble was the losing pitcher. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs over six innings. He struck out nine and walked one.

Garrett Wilfong hit a double to pace South Iron (7-5).

The Crusaders banged out 20 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Eagles, who managed just five hits.

Both games were shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

Saxony Lutheran (5-4) scored nine runs in the first two innings of the opener.

Conrad Bonney went the distance on the mound, allowing two hits and striking out eight.

Jack Lake and Nathan Hurst, who had a triple, both had two hits for Saxony. Lake had three RBIs.

Lane Henson took the loss for Eagle Ridge.

In the second game, the Crusaders scored in all four of their at-bats to make a winner out of pitcher Dano Drury, who gave up three hits and struck out six.

Conrad Bonney led the Crusaders offense with three hits. Luke LeGrand and Paris Johnson both added two hits.

Henson had two hits for Eagle Ridge, including a double.

Josh King took the loss.
