Multiple area teams started holiday tournaments this week with the Neelyville Tigers playing their second game in three days.
The irony for the Tigers is neither of those games came in the state of Missouri as Saturday was in Indiana at the home of Hickory where they picked up a win over Alton.
On Monday, Neelyville went the other direction to the Battle of the Border at Mammoth Springs High School.
The Tigers fell to Izard County 61-51 in their opening game.
Casen Stephens led the Tigers with 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Elijah Dollins added 16 points for Neelyville in the loss.
The Tigers will take on the loser between Mountain View and Alton, the same team they beat on Saturday, at 8:15 on Wednesday.
In the Clarkton Holiday Tournament, the No. 5 seeded Doniphan Dons fell to No. 4 Risco 73-53.
Doniphan will take on the Clarkton junior varsity team at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Other games in Clarkton included Portageville cruising by North Pemiscot and Malden taking down the host Reindeer’s JV squad. East Carter took on the varsity Clarkton team in Monday’s nightcap at 8:30 p.m. but the game finished after press time.
