Jake Kluesner and Mike Devault topped a field of 15 teams to win the Southeast Missouri Horseshoes Association event Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Oran.

Ron LeGrand and John Vandeven placed second; Perry Seyes and Jacob Vandeven were third.

On Saturday at the Oran Festival, Lachelle Cook and Randy Senciboy teamed up for a first-place finish.

Martin Williams and Kevin Graviette were second; Lester Powell and Melody Williams placed third.

The SEMO Horseshoe Association's next event is 1 p.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jackson.

Furey aces No. 3 at Cape Jaycee

Jim Furey hit a hole in one Thursday at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course. Furey aced the 157-yard par-3 third hole using a 6-iron.

Wendell Kerr, Sam Peterman and Jim Sullivan witnessed the shot.

Burnett medalist in Jaycee ladies

Sissy Burnett was the medalist Tuesday in the Cape Jaycee Ladies Group at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

She was first in the A flight. Bonnie Miller and Joann Williams tied for first in the B flight. Linda Williams had low putts.

The play of the day was scores on odd holes and resulted in a three-way tie between Lil Angle, Jan Keefe and Sharon Dow.

Sharon Barrows and Betty Price tied for first place among the nine-hole players Thursday in the Cape Girardeau Country Club Ladies Day.

The play of the day was most 4s and 5s.

Luanne Kiefner won over 18 holes with Beth Mapes, Vicki McKinney and Linda Tewis tied for second.

* Club members Mary Jane Eftink and Leslie Steele teamed up to win the two-lady best ball tournament at Bootheel Golf Club in Sikeston.

Four Central camps begin Monday

Central High School's Summer Camps begin Monday with sessions for volleyball, baseball, girls tennis and cross country.

The volleyball camp is Monday through Wednesday at the high school with sessions 9:30 a.m. to noon for students entering ninth through 12th grades. The cost is $30.

The baseball skills camp is Monday through Thursday at the high school. Sessions are 9 to 11:30 a.m. for students in fifth through eighth grades and 1 to 3:30 p.m. for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The cost is $50.

The girls tennis camp is Monday through Wednesday at the high school. Sessions are 9 to 11 a.m. the first two days and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The camp is open to students entering fifth through ninth grades, and the fee is $35.

The cross country camp, open to students in sevent through 12th grades, will be 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the high school. The cost is $2.

Camps scheduled to begin May 31 include softball skills and baseball hitting and pitching/catching.

CAYSA's annual tourney begins today

The Cape Area Youth Soccer Association's 24th annual River Rage Soccer Tournament begins today and concludes Sunday with games at Shawnee Park.

More than 70 teams are expected to participate in divisions from first- and second-grade coed to high school.
