Fresh off winning the Carr Trophy last week, Jackson's Matt Lang continued to be honored for his strong season Tuesday, not only earning first-team all-state honors by the Missouri Football Coaches Association, but also receiving the co-defensive player of the year award for Class 5...

Fresh off winning the Carr Trophy last week, Jackson's Matt Lang continued to be honored for his strong season Tuesday, not only earning first-team all-state honors by the Missouri Football Coaches Association, but also receiving the co-defensive player of the year award for Class 5.

Lang was a force at cornerback, recording 11 interceptions and 78 tackles on the season. His 11 interceptions put him only five picks shy of the state single-season record. And his four-interception performance against Parkway West tied a state single-game record.

Jackson's Adam Zweigart earned first-team honors at running back.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior led Southeast Missouri with 1,751 yards rushing on 215 carries. He averaged 8.14 yards per carry and 145.9 yards per game to go along with his 17 touchdowns.

Jackson guard Brian Hill also earned first-team offensive honors.

Joining Lang on the first-team defense from the Indians squad, which lost in he semifinals of the Class 5 playoffs, were defensive lineman Adam Collier (62 tackles) and linebacker Blake Peiffer (112 tackles).

The other local football player to earn all-state honors from the coaches association was St. Vincent's Justin L'Hote. L'Hote was a third-team defensive back in Class 1. He had 39 tackles and two interceptions.
