JACKSON -- Led by 27 points by Tory Meyr, Jackson avenged an early season loss to Farmington, defeating the Knights 87-62 Friday night in boys high school basketball action.

Meyr, a senior guard, also had nine assists and four steals.

"He's been playing well, but tonight he was exceptional," said Jackson coach Steve Burk, who saw his team improve to 10-9.

In their last meeting, Farmington had edged Jackson 56-51 in the championship game of its own Farmington Tournament.

The Knights brought a 14-3 record into Friday's contest.

"We shot the ball well and had good balance offensively," said Burk. "We hurt them a little with the press early and got some easy shots."

The Indians also sank three of their eight 3-pointers in the period as they broke out to a 29-10 lead.

Meyr had 11 of his points in the period and Levi Bollinger netted eight of his 18.

Farmington used a big second quarter of its own to trim the lead to 42-36 by halftime. However, the Indians took control again in the third period, outscoring the Knights 27-11 in the period for a commanding 69-47 lead.

John Oehl added 16 points for Jackson and Bollinger finished with seven assists.

Ronnie Lashley led Farmington with 20 points.

Dexter 86, Advance 61

DEXTER -- Dexter, the top ranked Class 3A team in the state, had three players score at least 23 points as it disposed of Advance rather easily.

Advance, ranked second in 1A, was led in scoring by Garrett Broshuis' 21 points. Broshuis hit a full-court shot at the end of the third quarter for three of his points. Daniel Turner added 13 for Advance (16-3).

Dexter (20-0) was led by Brett Hale who poured in 29 points and four threes. Shannon Wright and Scott Mattingly each scored 23.

Advance pulled out to a 21-16 lead after the first quarter, but the Bearcats rallied to go ahead 46-38 at halftime. Dexter put the game away in the third, outscoring Advance 20-8.

All three of Advance's losses have come to teams who are now ranked first in the state. The Hornets have lost twice to Dexter and once to Scott City, which is first in 2A.

Scott City 85, East Prairie 41

SCOTT CITY -- The top-ranked 2A Rams rolled to their 13th consecutive victory, pumping their record up to 19-1 by drubbing an overmatched East Prairie team.

Scott City, while managing to get 11 players in the scoring column, was sound defensively as well, grabbing 29 rebounds and creating 26 turnovers.

"It's always nice when you can get everyone in the game," said Scott City coach Derek McCord. "We had a good, solid effort by our guys tonight."

Ryan Weatherspoon deposited a game-high 21 points, Ben Sample had 17 and Ronald Watson added 14.

Blake Munger led East Prairie with 13 points.

The Rams, which are 6-0 in the Scott-Mississippi County Conference, will be going for their third straight undefeated conference season when they face Kelly on Tuesday.

Delta 72, Oak Ridge 68

DELTA -- Down by one point at the start of the fourth quarter, Delta outscored Oak Ridge 22-17 over the final eight minutes to emerge with the win.

Delta led 20-15 after one quarter, but saw Oak Ridge move ahead 41-34 by halftime. The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to 51-50 by the close of the third quarter.

Josh Altenthal led the way for Delta with a game-high 28 points. Teammate Robby Lemonds added 13 points.

Alex Fadler paced Oak Ridge with 23 points and Duran Engler tallied 18.

St. Vincent 63, Windsor 41

WINDSOR -- St. Vincent's Ryan Prost netted 20 points, Gabe Hotop notched 15 and Todd Meyer added 10 to combine for more total points than the entire Windsor team, as the Indians (11-5, 5-2) rolled to a comfortable win.

Windsor (10-9, 4-3) saw only Jordan Stone score in double figures, with 13 points.

"This was a big win for us on the road," said St. Vincent coach Bruce Valleroy. "Overall it was one of our better defensive games of the year. They've been scoring in the 60's all year, but not tonight."

Windsor kept things close early on, down only two points (15-13) in the first quarter, but the Indians outscored Windsor 10-6 in the second and 20-13 in the third en route to the win.

New Madrid 76, Scott County Central 45

NEW MADRID -- New Madrid held a 40-16 lead at halftime and coasted from there as Scott County Central dropped to 13-7 on the year.

Jreece Johnson scored 23 points, followed by Todd Blissett's 14 for Scott Central.

For New Madrid (12-6), Ronland Ranson led the way with 24, followed by Ricky Smith with 20 and Byron Minner with 11.

Bloomfield 76, Chaffee 59

CHAFFEE -- The Red Devils had to play the last two minutes with four players as four players fouled out.

Perry Rice, Sean Hampton, Tommy Stidham and Justin Gadberry each picked up five fouls. The Red Devils committed 24 fouls in all.

Hampton led the way with 14 points, followed by Chase Eskew with 11 and Rice with 10.

For Bloomfield, Brandon Greason scored 26 points, followed by Chris Phillips with 14, Adam Kingree with 13 and James Christian with 10.

Oran 73, Bell City 56

BELL CITY -- Travis Friga sank 27 points, Phillip Seyer had 22 and Eric Spies added 10 to help Oran improve to 10-7 with a win over Bell City.

The Eagles built a 31-21 advantage going into halftime and took a 53-40 lead into the fourth quarter.

"I think we started out too slow," said Bell City coach Jeff Funston. "We made too many turnovers that hurt us."

Gabe Scherer and Eric Henry led Bell City (7-10) with 20 points apiece, while Jason Rampley added 11.

Zalma Tournament

ZALMA -- Leopold successfully defended its Zalma Tournament title with a 57-48 victory over Zalma Friday night.

Leopold, paced by 17 points from Danny Nenninger, completed the round-robin tournament with a 3-0 record. Daniel Schaab and Ashton James each added 14 points for the Wildcats.

Chris Canoy led Zalma (1-2) with 15 points.

Leopold had to scratch out the win. The game was tied 14-14 after the opening quarter and the Wildcats nudged out to a 28-26 lead by halftime. Leopold took a 39-36 lead into the fourth quarter where it outscored Zalma 18-12.

Marquand (2-1) placed second with an 86-70 win over Meadow Heights (0-3). The Tigers sank 12 3-pointers in the victory. Doug Rehkop led the way with four 3-pointers and 18 points. Heath Stephens and Nick Kunz added 13 points apiece and Ryan Stephens had 12.

Josh Mayfield scored a game-high 23 points for Meadow Heights.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Kelly 61, Puxico 8

PUXICO -- A smothering Lady Hawk defense held Puxico to only two points in the first half -- six in the second half -- as Kelly improved to 16-3 with a lopsided victory.

Kelly led 41-2 advantage going into halftime.

Kelly's Marissa Essner scored a game-high 16 points, Dana Essner and Bridgett Riley had 12 points apiece and Audrey Burford added 10.

Only two players ended up on the scoring column for Puxico (0-9).
