NEW MADRID, Mo. -- The Jackson Lady Indians swept away Scott City 15-6, 15-3 to capture the championship of the SEMO Conference Tournament.

Jackson (6-0) defeated Sikeston 15-8, 15-5 in the semifinal match.

"The girls played well," said Jackson coach Nancy Ellis. "We have a long way to go, but overall it was a good couple of days."

The Lady Indians got contributions from a host of players including Erin Hartman (four kills, three blocks), Jenna Leet (three kills, seven blocks), Jessie Koeper (four kills, nine assists), Jennifer Mesey (four kills, three blocks, seven digs), Linden Hahs (10 digs) and Kacie Crites (three digs, five blocks, two aces).

STE. GENEVIEVE 8-7

The Lady Bulldogs (2-0) earned a straight-set win over Ste. Genevieve.

Senior basketball star Deanna McCormick, in her first season with the volleyball team, has made her presence felt early. She had five kills and seven blocks.

Jennifer Vangennip, Erin Pfau and Courtney Vickery had six, five and four kills, respectively.

Notre Dame won the JV match 15-4, 15-12.

The Lady Bulldog freshman team was also victorious, 15-0, 13-15 and 15-13. Kelsey Scheeter accomplished a rare feat as she scored all the points in the first-game shutout.

JACKSON, Mo. -- The Lady Indians (2-5) blasted Goreville in a game shortened to four innings by the mercy-run rule.

Winning pitcher Casey Hobeck gave up three hits with three walks and no strikeouts.

Megan Green, Jeanna Bolen, Ami Illers and Hobeck led the Jackson offense with two hits each. Green had two doubles.

Jackson's JV edged Goreville 4-3 to complete the sweep.

NOTRE DAME 3 STE. GENEVIEVE 0

Ramona Blankenship tossed a two-hitter in leading the Lady Bulldogs to a victory.

The Lady Bulldogs, who improved to 9-0, got two hits and two runs batted in from Sara Berkbigler.

Blankenship walked none and struck out seven.

Notre Dame's junior varsity team (5-0) won 9-0 behind a five-inning no-hitter by Alana Weissmueller.

KELLY 17, SIKESTON 0

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Dana Essner struck out eight in five innings of work and also had four RBIs as Kelly crushed Sikeston to improve to 3-0.

Essner allowed only two hits.

Christy Kluesner went 2-for-2 with two runs batted in, while Allison Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

CAPE CENTRAL 4 POPLAR BLUFF 1

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Holly Schnurbusch held the Lady Mules to three hits and one walk while striking out five as the Lady Tigers improved to 5-5.

Central had six hits from six different players.

Megan Kistner provided two runs batted in.
