The Jackson American Legion team won its opening game at the Dyersburg Tournament in Tennessee, while the Cape Girardeau Ford and Sons and Scott County Legion teams lost their pool-play openers.

Cape Girardeau lost for the first time this season, dropping a 14-4 decision in six innings Friday night against Gallatin, Tenn.

Adam McMahan suffered the pitching loss. He allowed nine runs -- eight earned -- on 12 hits in five innings.

McMahan was 2-for-4, Ty Craft was 2-for-2 and Dane Balsmann hit a home run for Cape Girardeau (4-1).

Jackson routed Fulton, Ky., 10-0 in a game that was stopped after five innings.

Austin Morrison pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts and no walks.

Jackson (2-2) had 10 hits, led by Logan Lawson with two. Zach Ayers drove in three runs on a triple.

Scott County (2-2) was shut out 5-0 by the Northwest Tennessee Blazers.

Scott County had just three hits, while the Blazers had just six but benefited from six Scott County errors to score five unearned runs.

Trenton Moses pitched four innings and took the loss.

Each team has two more pool-play games scheduled for today.
