FARMINGTON -- Jackson's Gabe Estes qualified for state Wednesday by shooting an 83 on the par-72 Eagle Lake Golf Course in the Class 4A, District 1 Tournament.
The district's top two teams and top 10 individuals qualify for state.
Jackson's team finished sixth with a score of 348, followed by Cape Central at seventh with a team score of 369.
Estes tied for seventh place.
Poplar Bluff took first place with a 329, followed by Sikeston at 338.
Other scores for Jackson were Chris Pike 87, Nathan Brown 89 and Peyton Sims 89.
"The scores were all pretty high for everybody," said Jackson coach Ron Cook. "I wasn't real pleased with the way we played but it's nice to see Gabe get back to state for the third time."
Cape Central was led by Josh Miller's score of 89. Other scores for the Tigers were Nick Harter 90, Danny Groesbeck 94, Kent Phillips 94 and Jeff Haycraft 94.
Groesbeck was last year's district champion.
"He just had an off day," Central coach Dick Wadlington said. "That's the nature of the game. The scores were high today because the course was wet and there were some high winds."
Poplar Bluff sophomore Mike Hillis was the medalist.
The state meet will be held May 17-18 in Fulton.
