Rex Meyr wants to stay close to home.

For that reason, the Jackson senior chose the University of Missouri for his college choice over Arkansas and Alabama-Birmingham.

Meyr signed his letter of intent on Wednesday to attend Missouri, a Big 12 school that was a participant in the NCAA tournament this past season and reached the final eight.

"This just kind of seemed like a good fit," said Meyr, who has been a starting shortstop for Jackson since his sophomore season. "I liked the atmosphere and the people."
