BENTON -- Billy James of Sikeston bettered the field of Super Streeters Saturday to take the top honors for the fifth time this year at Missouri International Racepark.

"Me and Greg King, my brother-in-law, started on the front row and we swapped leads back and forth," said James. "That was the closest race that I have been in, in a long time.

"Seemed like (the track) was really hooked up heavy out there tonight. It was smooth. You could run just about anywhere. I would pass (King) low and he would pass me low. I would pass him high and he would pass me high."

The Super Street class has seen three different winners this year. Although only three drivers have won features at the track this year, Greg Gross, Robert Smith, Jason Sissom, Larry Hull, James and King provide for one of the toughest competing classes at MIR.

"It seems anymore on any given night that one person could run away with it," said James.

Charles LaPlant held onto the second spot despite repeated challenges from Steve Zelch Jr., who took third. Johnny Wyatt moved into the point lead with this fourth-place run and polesitter Rodney Pense finished fifth.

Tim Montgomery of Fredericktown held off Mike Ward to take the Winged Sprint feature. The win for Montgomery, his first of the season, was worth $1,200.

Montgomery and Ward swapped the lead several times in the race. Todd Rowland finished third, Shawn King fourth and Kevin Steptor fifth.

Eric Harris of Bufordville beat out Cline Myers Jr. to win the Pure Street race. The win was the second of the season for Harris. Myers Jr. held off Keith Brugger to finish second and Cline Myers Sr. placed fourth, ahead of Joey Mack.
