FARMINGTON -- Nathan Windeknecht scored four goals -- giving him 46 for the season -- as Jackson High's boys soccer team routed host Farmington 10-0 Tuesday in its final regular-season game.

Jackson led 7-0 at the half and ended the game with 17 minutes left in the second half due to the 10-goal-lead rule.

Spencer Knowlan had three goals for the Indians. Raju Dirnberger, Greg Schwab and Chris Kohm added one goal apiece. Kohm chipped in five assists.

Jackson, now 18-4-2 on the season, is seeded first for next week's Class 4A, District 1 Tournament in Poplar Bluff.

Poplar Bluff 1, Notre Dame 0

POPLAR BLUFF -- Poplar Bluff scored the game's only goal early in the second half to clip visiting Notre Dame Tuesday.

The Bulldogs are 14-4-4 heading into today's regular-season finale at Cape Central.

"It was a heck of a game," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn. "We actually played pretty decently. Both teams had some good scoring chances."

VOLLEYBALL

Class 1A, District 2

ZALMA -- Powerhouse Bernie rolled to the tournament championship Tuesday night as the top-seeded Mules defeated second-seeded Bell City 15-11, 15-10.

Bernie, now 34-1, beat Richland 15-4, 15-3 in the semifinals. The other semifinal saw Bell City (19-10) down host Zalma 15-9, 15-10.

Bernie advances to Saturday's sectionals in Poplar Bluff.

Class 1A, District 4

STE. GENEVIEVE -- Leopold and St. Vincent posted victories Tuesday night to advance to today's tournament semifinals.

Third-seeded Leopold (18-10-1) beat No. 6 Marquand 15-0, 15-6 as Gwen Vandeven had nine kills and Hannah Jansen added seven.

Fourth-seeded St. Vincent (11-14-4) downed No. 5 Oak Ridge 15-5, 15-10. Jessica Lakenan had 15 points, seven kills and four blocks, Valerie Klaus had 11 assists and Sara Cissell added 11 digs.

In today's semifinals, St. Vincent plays top-seeded Meadow Heights at 5 p.m. while Leopold faces host and second-seeded Valle at 6:15. The finals will be tonight at 8.

Class 2A, District 2

BLOOMFIELD -- In a tournament that was completed in one day, Scott City put up quite a challenge before falling in the championship match late Monday night.

The third-seeded Lady Rams lost in the finals to host and top seed Bloomfield 15-9, 15-10.

Earlier, the Lady Rams downed Charleston 8-15, 15-11, 16-14 and upended second-seeded twin Rivers 17-15, 13-15, 16-14.

"It was a long night and they played their little hearts out," said first-year Scott City coach Barbara Ice. "Whitney Baer and Alaina Smith both did outstanding jobs hitting and Amber Dannenmueller did a good job setting."

Added Ice, "We won nine matches this year and last year I believe they only won two. The girls really improved a lot."

Class 3A, District 2

PERRYVILLE -- Festus flexed its muscles by romping to the tournament championship Tuesday night.

The top-seeded Lady Tigers beat host and fifth-seeded Perryville 15-1, 15-7 in the semifinals, then downed third-seeded Ste. Genevieve 15-5, 15-6 in the finals.

Perryville, which ended its season at 12-15-2, got five kills from Kristen Taylor, six assists from Shannon Dreyer, six digs from Jaimee Mueller and four points and six assists from Nicole Blechle.

"We played pretty well," said Perryville coach Tim Steffens. "Festus has got one of the best teams we've played all year but at least we made them work for it."

Festus will take a 25-2 record into Saturday's sectionals in Ste. Genevieve.

Class 4A, District 1

DESLOGE -- Cape Central's season ended Tuesday night with a 15-13, 15-5 tournament loss to Poplar Bluff.

The Lady Tigers, who finished at 5-16-2, got five kills from Jessica Balogh and four kills from Katie Cozby.

"I was proud of the team," said Central coach April McClintock. "They played hard to the end and didn't let up."

Jackson, the No. 1 seed, will have its first tourney match at 5 p.m. today in the semifinals against host and fourth-seeded North County. No. 2 Farmington plays No. 3 Poplar Bluff in the other semifinal at 6:30. The finals are tonight at 8.

JR. HIGH BASKETBALL

Central girls fall

SIKESTON -- Cape Central's eighth grade girls lost two games here Tuesday.

The `A' team fell to 0-4 with a 29-26 defeat. Victoria Wilson scored 11 points for Cape.

The `B' squad is 0-2 after a 23-18 setback.
