Laura Lueders, a 1997 graduate of Cape Central High School, has parlayed her strong athletic and academic accomplishments into a scholarship to William Woods College in Fulton.
Lueders will be attending William Woods on a combination softball/soccer/academic scholarship.
"She's a talented athlete and a really good student and she's getting a great deal at William Woods," said Central soccer coach Tom Doyle.
Lueders starred in both soccer and softball for the Lady Tigers. In soccer, she was a two-year starter who earned all-conference honors as both a junior and senior.
"She played stopper for us and she really played well," said Doyle. "She's smart and she knows the game very well."
In softball, Lueders played center field and second base as a two-year varsity performer, earning all-conference and all-district honors as a senior. She batted .393 last season and was voted as the team's best hitter.
"Laura is a good line-drive hitter," said Central softball coach Don Lang. "She played real well for us."
