Notre Dame senior Meridith Medlin was named the region's girls soccer player of the year in Class 1 after the Bulldogs reached the state quarterfinals this past season.

Medlin was one of six Notre Dame players to earn first-team all-region honors. Destiny Dirnberger, Claudia Brauss, Mindy Siebert, Alex Fowler and Courtney Luehmann also made the first team for the Bulldogs.

Brooke Brown and Kelsey Cissell made the first team from St. Vincent, and Kendra Schilli and Katie Fulton made the first team from Perryville.

Cissell earned defensive player of the year honors, while offensive player of the year honors went to Jordi Ferrell of Sikeston.

Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley and St. Vincent coach Dustin Wengert shared coach of the year honors.

Megan Wengert, Courtney Besand, Sara Moll and Jessica Welker made the second team from St. Vincent, and Alicia Kueker and Kasey Riney represented Perryville.

Molly Proffer, Taylor Sanders and Paige Schumer made the second team from Notre Dame.

Notre Dame, the Class 1 District 1 winners, had six on the all-district first team. Medlin, Dirnberger, Shelley Frank, Siebert, Fowler and Luehmann made the first team.

Brown, Welker and Cissell made the first team from district runner-up St. Vincent.

Ava Johnson, Fulton and Schilli made the team from Perryville.

Scott-Miss. all-conference

Scott City junior pitcher Ryan Modglin earned the player of the year honor in the Scott-Mississippi Conference.

Modglin helped lead the Rams to the district title with his arm and his bat. Scott City senior Blake Dirnberger and junior Cody Carlyle also made the all-conference team.

Oran senior Chase Seyer and juniors Kody Campbell, Tyler Beardslee and Steven Dooley made the team from Oran.

Chaffee senior Chris Hanback and juniors Andy Hendrix and Josh Steger were also all-conference members.

Scott City first-year coach Lance Amick was the coach of the year.

Oran coaching changes

Oran's coaching staff will have a new look next year with the addition of Adam Friga and Sara Heisserer.

Heisserer, volleyball coach at Chaffee this past year, will take over the Oran volleyball and softball programs. It will be a busy fall for Heisserer, as the Eagles will play their first season of fall softball next year.

Friga will replace Larry Boshell as the girls basketball coach.
