Notre Dame's softball team improved to 12-2 with a 3-1 victory Monday at Kelly.
The Bulldogs finished the year 2-0 against the Hawks, with the other win coming in the finals of the Notre Dame Softballfest. Notre Dame jumped out in front Monday with two runs in the first and another in the second.
Sarah Michel had all three RBIs for Notre Dame. Michael was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. Alana Weissmueller also went 2-for-3 for Notre Dame. The Bulldogs managed only five hits off Kelly starter Whitney Beggs.
On the mound for Notre Dame, Lindsay Reinagel picked up her eighth win. Reinagel allowed four hits, struck out six and walked none in seven innings.
"To get two wins against a quality team like that is a good year," Notre Dame coach Jeff Graviett said.
Notre Dame will host Perryville Wednesday in a district showdown.
Jackson 2, Sikeston 0
Jackson scored two runs in the sixth inning and held on for a road win.
Hannah Fowler allowed four hits in seven innings for Jackson (7-11). Fowler struck out five and walked three.
Kristen Roberts had a big RBI double in the sixth and Kelly Riggs' pop fly was misplayed by the center fielder to account for the second run.
Delta 17, Clearwater 0
Delta banged out 15 hits and two home runs in a three-inning win on the road.
Kaci Menz led the offensive attack with two hits, including a grand slam, and seven RBIs. Kacie Seabaugh was 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and four RBIs. Sarah Cook, Ashley Martin and Krystal Burnett added two hits apiece for Delta (11-6).
Cook pitched a three-inning no-hitter for her ninth win.
VOLLEYBALL
Notre Dame 25-25, Park Hills 23-18
Notre Dame, the area's top-ranked team, tuned up for tonight's big home match with fourth-ranked Advance by winning on the road.
Emily Beurhle led the Bulldogs (21-3-1) with eight kills and seven digs. Laura Browne had a big match with five kills and eight blocks. Sommer McCauley had four kills and eight assists while Alison Essner and Amber Karnes both added six assists.
Notre Dame's JV won 23-25, 26-24, 25-12 and the Bulldogs' freshman team prevailed 25-18, 25-10.
Jackson 25-19-25, Farmington 13-25-23
Jackson won a key district matchup in three games at home.
Linden Hahs had a big game for Jackson (15-2-1) with 21 digs and five kills. Jodie Gipson had four blocks and 10 digs; Molly Hartmann had nine blocks and nine kills; Rebecca Martin added 11 digs and Kate Loos had 15 assists.
Jackson's JV won in 27-25, 25-13 and the freshman lost in two games.
Dexter 25-26, Advance 15-24
Advance's weekend struggles continued in a road loss to Dexter.
The Hornets (14-4) won their pool at the Arkansas State Tournament over the weekend but lost both games in bracket play.
Against Dexter, Dana Williams led Advance with seven kills and three blocks. Leslie Rainey had five digs, Alicia Broshuis had eight assists and Nicole Tropf had three aces.
Advance's JV lost 25-13-25-18.
Scott City 25-25, Sikeston 17-10
Scott City moved above the .500 mark with an easy home victory.
The Rams (8-7-2) were led by Kacie Cartwright with four kills and five digs. Ashton Phillips had three kills and six digs while Abby Cook added three kills.
Sikeston's JV won 26-24, 26-24.
Valle 25-25, St. Vincent 18-16
St. Vincent was swept at home.
Sierra Paulus, Megan Richardet and Allison Prost had three kills apiece for the Squaws (6-11-5). Paulus added four blocks.
St. Vincent's JV and freshmen teams each won in two games.
Bell City 25-25, Central 10-15
Bell City cruised to victory over visiting Cape Central.
Katie Niemczyk led the Cubs (11-7) with seven kills and 12 digs. Andreia Wondel had 12 digs while Sarah Metcalf added five digs and four service aces.
Bell City won a tight JV match 25-27, 25-12, 25-23.
Oak Ridge 25-25, Charleston 13-20
Oak Ridge climbed to .500 with a home sweep.
Vickie Moll had 40 assists for the Blue Jays (9-9). Hailey Ponder, Kelsey Schaper and Erin Hahs had three kills apiece. Cheryl Berkbigler added 11 digs.
Oak Ridge's JV won in two games.
Zalma 26-27-25, Oran 28-25-16
Melissa Fish had 16 kills as Zalma rallied for a three-game win over visiting Oran.
The Bulldogs (5-8-1) got 31 assists from Misty Moit and seven digs from Cindy Hovis.
Zalma's JV won 25-22, 25-14.
BOYS' SOCCER
Poplar Bluff 2, Jackson 1
Jackson outshot the visiting Mules but came away with its ninth straight loss.
The Indians (1-9) got their goal from Andrew Schlick, with an assist from Tyler Sprandel.
Jackson's JV won 1-0 on a goal from Schlick.
GIRLS' TENNIS
Farmington 6, Jackson 3
Jackson dropped two close doubles matches during a road loss.
Kelly Mitchell, Shannon Cobb and Chelsea Walker had singles wins for the Indians (5-8). The teams of Mitchell-Sarah Hinkebein and Megan Beil-Walker each lost 9-7 in doubles.
Jackson's JV won 6-1.
EIGHTH GRADE FOOTBALL
Central 19, North County 6
Garrett Stevens threw for 145 yards and Darien Downing rushed for 130 to lead Central to a road win.
Stevens was 8-for-12 with two touchdown passes. Downing had a 65-yard touchdown reception and a 75-yard touchdown run. Joey Uhls led Central in tackles and had a 20-yard touchdown reception.
