BLOOMFIELD -- The Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs looked every bit the No. 1 seed of their district Saturday afternoon, outscoring eighth-seed East Prairie 20-0 in the first quarter on the way to an easy 92-12 win in opening-round action of the Class 2A, District 1 Tournament.

In other first-round games, fourth-seeded Greenville defeated fifth-seeded Chaffee 53-41; second-seeded Scott City downed seventh-seeded Puxico 82-22.

In boys action, eight-seeded Puxico defeated ninth-seeded Chaffee 88-48 and seventh-seeded Greenville eliminated East Prairie 78-55.

Notre Dame 92, East Prairie 12

Randi Senciboy led five Lady Bulldogs in double-digit scoring as Notre Dame improved its record to 17-9 and advanced into the semifinals where fourth-seeded Greenville awaits.

Other top scorers for Notre Dame were Tracy Blattel (12 points), Melissa Maurer (12), Jill Huber (10) and Sara Westrich (10).

Notre Dame (17-9) will face Greenville Tuesday at 7 p.m. in semifinal action.

Greenville 53, Chaffee 41

BLOOMFIELD -- Fourth-seeded Greenville scored the first 11 points of their opening-round district contest with Chaffee then held off a final charge by the Lady Devils to advance.

After the opening 11-0 run, Chaffee pulled back into the game ending the quarter down only 16-10. Greenville still lead for the entire game but with 3:30 left, Chaffee's Kate Nolen put back a rebound to cut the score to 35-33. But Greenville held on by hitting 9-of-11 free throws in the final quarter.

Brandi Foulk and Renee Vandeven led the Lady Devils with 12 points each. Chaffee ends the season with a 9-14 mark.

Scott City 82, Puxico 22

BLOOMFIELD -- The Scott City Lady Rams had no trouble in their opening-round district contest against No. 7 Puxico.

The second-seeded Rams (20-5) jumped on top early and held Puxico to single-digit totals in all four quarters. Tara Sanford led the Lady Rams with 22 points. Sara Emerson scored 19 points and Amy O'Brien added 18 as Scott City advanced into the semifinals Tuesday night.

Puxico 88, Chaffee 48

Puxico scored a whopping 40 points in the fourth quarter as it ended Chaffee's season.

Puxico led 16-11 after one quarter and 29-15 at halftime. The Indians took a 48-32 lead into the fourth quarter, where they outscored Chaffee 40-16.

Jeremy Yarbo scored 19 points for Chaffee, which closed its season at 4-15.
