Playing without its top two middle hitters, Notre Dame's volleyball team still managed to cruise past visiting Bloomfield 25-22, 25-18 Tuesday night.

With Laura Browne and Amanda Essner out, Notre Dame used a balanced scoring attack to improve to 20-3-1.

Amber Karnes led the Bulldogs with seven assists and 13 service points, and Allison Essner added six assists. Lauren Beussink led Notre Dame with five kills, and Lauren Mehner added six digs.

Notre Dame's JV won 25-9, 25-18.

Grandview 25-29

Perryville 23-27

Perryville was swept on the road. Jaime Hacker led the Pirates with two kills and two blocks.

JV -- Perryville 25-23, 19-25, 25-23.

SOFTBALL

Notre Dame 7, St. Pius 0

Notre Dame got a strong effort both defensively and offensively in its regular season finale.

Playing against a district foe on the road, the Bulldogs (18-6) banged out 10 hits, led by two hits apiece from Alana Weissmueller, Whitney Ostendorf, Miranda Schlosser and Bailey Reutzel.

Beth Schnurbusch pitched four innings for the win. Schnurbusch allowed three hits, had seven strikeouts and one walk. Schlosser pitched the final three innings.

Central ended its regular season by banging out 21 hits and romping past host Perryville in six innings.

Susie Edwards went tripled, doubled and went 3-for-5 to lead the Tigers (7-17), who begin district play today.

Jamie Lester and Erica Schabbing also had three hits apiece. Katie Mothershead, Bethany Sweet and Courtney Schuessler all added two hits. Kelsey Holloway was the winning pitcher.

Chaffee's first regular season in fall softball ended with a home rout.

Still recovering from the loss of pitcher Courtney Walter to a knee injury, the Red Devils scored early and often to improve to 7-5.

Sarah Dooley led the offense with a 4-for-4 performance. Dooley, Mindy Hendrix and Allissa Coomer had two RBIs apiece for Chaffee. Whitney Horrell pitched four innings for the win.

Bryce Willen scored a first-half goal, with Abe Dirnberger assisting, and Nathan Kolda recorded the shutout as Sikeston (8-8) won at home.
