STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Southeast Missouri State University women's track team broke two school records in a strong performance at the Jace Lacoste Invitational on Saturday at Mississippi State University.

Brooke Woodruff and Heather Jenkins helped lead Southeast's women to a win with school-record performances in the 800-meters and hammer throw, respectively. Woodruff finished second in 2:07.74, and Jenkins won the hammer with a throw of 176 feet and 10 inches. Both Jenkins and Woodruff regionally qualified in their events.

Other wins for Southeast's women came from LaQuita Andrews (400), Lyndsey Stevenson (400 hurdles) and Jenkins (discus and shot put). Southeast also won the 1,600 and 400 relays. Andrews, Woodruff, Nyisha Porter and Juanita Coleman ran the 1,600 relay. Andrews, Porter, Rose Fulton and Natasha Fortenberry ran the 400.

Southeast (189) edged host Mississippi State by 10 points.

Mississippi State won the men's competition and Southeast was second.

Freshman Miles Smith ran the 400 in 46.84 seconds to qualify for regionals.

Men's winners were Jared Tanz (800), Alonzo Nelson (400 hurdles), Jay Heddell (discus) and the 1,600 relay team of Jon Jefferson, Chaz Brown, Tim Jefferson and Nelson.
