The Four Corners Archery Club in Bollinger County is hosting a coon shoot on March 31 and the IBO state championships on June 2.

The second annual coon shoot will include three classes -- compound, women's and traditional. Registration will be 6 to 8 p.m. and shooting begins at dark. Each shooter will need to bring a flashlight that uses two D-cell batteries or less, and hunter orange is required.

The registration fee is $10.

The IBO state championship in June is a world qualifying shoot, and all IBO classes will be offered.

Registration will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the event.

The registration fee is $25, and shooters must be IBO members or apply for membership on the day of the shoot. Winners will be notified by phone on the following week.

The club is located on Highway O, about 26 miles west of Jackson.

Hunter education classscheduled for March 24

A Missouri Department of Conservation hunter education class is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. March 24 at the First Assembly of God Church gymnasium in Scott City.

The class includes firing on a BB-gun range and other hands-on activities.

The class is open to those ages 11 and older.

Lunch can be purchased at the clinic with proceeds to hunter education.

Registration will be done on-site. The church gym is located at 312 Dearborn St., about two miles off Interstate 55 and one block off Main Street.
