VALLE (6-2) AT ST. VINCENT (5-3)

Last week: St. Vincent 28, Chaffee 0; Hayti 40, Valle 14

Last year: St. Vincent 31, Valle 6

St. Vincent coach Keith Winkler: "They've got more experience and are bigger up front but we're going to go out and give it everything we've got. They really run the ball well between the tackles and they get off the ball well. They've got a lot of weapons and they fly to the ball on defense. ... This is an intense rivalry that's been going on for 20 or 30 years. It's going to be a head knocker. I don't care what the records are, I've seen a 3-7 St. Vincent team play Valle -- in a year they won the state title -- and the game was decided on a field goal."

Notes: St. Vincent lineman Andrew Prost has been cleared to play after suffering an injury during the jamboree. Winkler said he didn't know how much Prost would play because it will take him some time to get back into game shape.

SCOTT CITY (3-5) AT CRYSTAL CITY (2-6)

Last week: Scott City 29, Grandview 6; Charleston 37, Crystal City 27

Last year: Scott City 28, Crystal City 12;

Scott City coach Stephen O'Brien: "They're very physical up front. They started out strong and had a couple really good running backs who got hurt the third or fourth game of the year and last week they were back. So they're getting healthy and they're going to be a very tough team to beat. But we've had a couple decent practices and we're going to go up and try to handle them up front. And we've been working on wrapping up. We've been poor tacklers this year."

Notes: Scott City has somewhat of a kicking problem. The Rams' first kicker Andrew Estes was doing fine, but suffered a foot injury that is aggravated every time he kicks. Then the Rams inserted freshman Matt Schaefer, who filled in admirably and even kicked a 37-yard field goal. But Schaefer was injured in a freshman game this week and will not play. ... Estes has recorded 108 tackles to this point, just 16 shy of the school record.

GRANDVIEW (0-8) AT CHARLESTON (6-2)

Last week: Charleston 37, Crystal City 27; Scott City 29, Grandview 6

Last year: Charleston 39, Grandview 14

Charleston coach Brent Anderson: "Grandview went through a coaching change and they're still feeling their way around. They're doing a lot of new stuff offensively and I think they've got a different philosophy on defense. They're starting to play a little better, but they don't have a lot of speed. ... We want to control the tempo of the football game. We want to execute and play well for four quarters. We didn't do that last week."

Notes: Dontay Clark will play, but he's not 100 percent after suffering a knee injury against East Prairie. Charleston has several players with minor injuries, but everyone should play this week.

CHAFFEE (3-5) AT HAYTI (8-0)

Last week: St. Vincent 28, Chaffee 0; Hayti 40, Valle 14

Last year: Hayti 36, Chaffee 7

Chaffee coach Allan Horrell: "Losing in the first week of districts against St. Vincent and just knowing you've got state-ranked Hayti -- and knowing we've got two wins -- it seems like a monumental task. Hayti is loaded and they're much more two-dimensional than they have been in the past. There's a lot to cover in a week, but we're going to go down there, play hard and let the chips fall where they may. ... (Fullback) Jeremy Dannenmueller has done a great job here toward the end of the season. He's just a solid player who never comes off the field. He doesn't have the flashy numbers, but he plays well on offense and defense."

Notes: Hayti is ranked No. 4 in 1A, but its win over Valle was closer than the score indicated.

FREDERICKTOWN (3-5) AT DEXTER (4-4)

Last week: Fredericktown 29, Kennett 20; New Madrid 31, Dexter 10

Last year: Fredericktown 19, Dexter 7

Notes: Dexter played NMCC much closer than the score indicated last week. Dexter trailed by only eight with less than five minutes left in the game.
