The Chaffee Red Devils dropped their Class 1, District 1 football opener in Ste. Genevieve on Friday with a 55-7 loss to Valle.
Valle (5-3) led 42-0 after one quarter and 49-0 at halftime. Chaffee's only score came on a 10-yard scramble from quarterback Jeff Daugherty in the fourth quarter.
Daugherty finished 6-of-13 for 137 yards and two interceptions for Chaffee (0-8). Nick Powderly had four receptions for 87 yards.
VOLLEYBALL
Bell City 25-25, Woodland 11-12
Bell City ended its regular season with a road weep.
The Cubs (18-9) got seven kills from Emily Burch, six from Andreia Wondel and five from Katie Niemczyk. Sarah Scherer led Bell City with 10 digs, and Wondel and Niemczyk had eight apiece.
OTHERS
Saxony Lutheran's JV volleyball team ended its season at 7-19 with a 25-23, 25-16 win over Chaffee. Meredith Hoffman had 11 points, and Stacey Muench had nine points and nine digs.
