The Saxony Lutheran baseball team swept a lopsided road doubleheader in Olive Branch, Ill., Wednesday.
Saxony took the opener 9-0 and the nightcap 23-6 in five innings.
Chase Steffens was the star in the opener, throwing a complete-game five-hit shutout and striking out 11. He also went 3 for 4, as did Ethan Mirly.
Gabe Bohnert blasted a home run in the second game as the Crusaders (7-6-1) banged out 17 hits.
Mirly got the win on the mound for Saxony Lutheran.

Leopold scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and give the host Wildcats the victory even though they had just two hits.
Zach Elfrink was the winning pitcher. He threw a complete-game six-hitter and had nine strikeouts for Leopold (9-5-1).
Lance Rohde took the loss on the mound. He also pitched all seven innings with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Hunter Seyer had two hits to pace the Blue Jays (6-5).

Host Bernie scored four runs in the sixth inning as the top-seeded Mules captured the title in the Stoddard County Activities Association tournament.

Landon Johnson suffered his first loss of the season on the mound. C.J. McAlister went 2 for 3 at the plate to pace the Cardinals (10-7).
The win completed a conference sweep for Bernie. The Mules won first place in the SCAA tournaments in all five sports of basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and cheerleading during the 2012-2013 school year.

With a runner on second base and the game tied at 10 in the bottom of the eighth innning, sophomore Leah Landewee smacked a single that drove in the game-winning run to lead the host Wildcats.
Landewee also had a double in the first inning to lead Leopold (11-1). Ashlyn Bucher went 3 for 5.
Caitlin Petty picked up her sixth win in the circle. She pitched all eight innings with two strikeouts and five walks.
Audrey Hunt hit a triple and went 3 for 5 to pace the Blue Jays (2-7).

Sikeston's Kirk Hoggatt shot a 2-over par 74 to lead the Bulldogs to first place in the Festus Invitational at the Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington.
Levi Gotto and Alex Miget both shot 86s to pace St. Vincent, which finished fourth.
Perryville's Brett Schnurbusch shot an 85 for the Pirates, who placed eighth. Golfers who shot at or below 85 were honored as top 10 medalists.
Chase Kinder of Winfield shot an even-par of 72 to earn the top medalist honor.
