Christy Laxton scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting Wednesday night for Scott City, but the Rams fell 50-45 to Ste. Genevieve.

The Rams (6-11) fell into a 13-4 hole after one quarter. The Rams trailed by 12 early in the fourth quarter but cut the gap to two, 47-45, with 1:17 remaining.

However, turnovers and missed layups by Scott City in the final minute prevented it from completing the rally.

The Rams were missing point guard Alisha Obermann (broken wrist) and Kelley Hicks (sprained ankle).

"I thought we played well tonight considering we were without two key players due to injury," Rams coach Mike Johnson said. "We gave them a good scare on their home floor, played them down to the last seconds. It just wasn't meant to be, but I was very pleased with the girls tonight. We didn't give up."

Scott City trailed 25-13 at halftime and 40-30 heading into the final frame.

Laxton also had six rebounds and six assists. Nora Glasser added eight points and six rebounds. Angie Laxton had six assists.

The Hunters (6-10) snap a two-game losing streak, as sophomore Lindsay Rhodes had 23 points and 17 rebounds.

Scott City visits East Prairie 6 p.m. Monday in Scott-Mississippi Conference action.
