A little discipline was all the Scott City softball team needed Tuesday to advance to the Class 1 District 4 championship game.

The top-seeded Rams took advantage of 16 walks and wasted no time disposing of fourth-seeded Woodland, winning a 15-0 decision in three innings at home.

"We didn't square many balls up, but at this time of the year, you take them pretty, you take them ugly, you advance," Scott City coach Lance Amick said. "That's the nature of the beast this time of the year. You want to advance, and that's what we did. So hopefully tomorrow will be a little bit cleaner."

The Rams will take on third-seeded Leopold, which cruised past No. 2 Advance 15-1 in five innings, at 4:30 p.m. today.

"We just want to come out and give a great effort, see where the chips fall and control what we can control," Amick said. "Hopefully we come out, compete at the plate, compete in the field and compete in the circle. That's all you can ask for this time of the year and see what happens."

Scott City (16-6) tallied nine runs in the first inning, one in the second and five in the third to pick up the mercy-rule victory. Liz Hensley had a double and two RBIs for the Rams, while Valerie Bahr, Bella Bowers, Lexi Hennecke and Kristin Kirker also added two RBIs apiece.

Jamie Glastetter earned the win in the circle. She pitched three innings, struck out five, walked three, and gave up three hits and no runs. She also added three RBIs at the plate.

Brooke Miles started for Woodland (8-11) and took the loss in 1/3 of an inning. She was one of three pitchers who combined for 16 walks and no strikeouts. Miles' double in the second inning accounted for one of the Cardinals' three hits.

Amick believes its a benefit for his team to host the district tournament.

"You're accustomed to playing on your own field," Amick said. "You've been playing on it all year, and it's good to get a little bit better of a crowd, as far as your team. The familiarity of it can hopefully bring back some decent memories from last year and the feeling because a lot of the girls were on the team last year. I feel like we've got a pretty good field here, too, so it'll be good to get some true hops and different things like that."
