Adam Scott shot a 5-under 65 Thursday on the TPC at Las Colinas and shared the first-round lead with Steve Lowery in the Australian's first appearance at the Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, Texas.

Despite a pair of three-putt bogeys in a three-hole stretch, Scott had the best round of the day on the 7,052-yard TPC course after a closing 11-foot birdie putt.

Lowery shot his bogey-free 65 across the street on the easier 6,871-yard Cottonwood Valley layout, where Scott gets to play his second round today. There were 37 rounds under par Thursday, 24 of them at Cottonwood.

LPGA Tour

Karrie Webb outplayed playing partners Annika Sorenstam and Cristie Kerr, making eight birdies in a 5-under-par 66 to lead after the first round of the Michelob Ultra Open in Williamsburg, Va.

Webb has a one-shot lead over Jimin Kang.

British Masters

Darren Clarke and Peter Hanson each shot a 6-under 66 at The Belfry to take the lead after the first round of the British Masters.
