Southeast Missouri State University opens its indoor track and field season Sunday at the Arkansas State Invitational. Both the men's and women's teams will compete.

"Winning the OVC championship is our main goal. This meet is the first step in getting our athletes there."

Haines has high expectations for senior Jay Heddell in the shot put and junior Heather Jenkins in the shot and weight competitions at Sunday's meet.

Sunday's competition will mark Southeast's only action this month. The next meet is Jan. 16 at Missouri.
