The 2012 Southeast Missouri State football schedule released Friday features five home games along with a trip to regional rival Southern Illinois Carbondale.

Southeast opens Aug. 30 with a Thursday contest at Central Michigan in the Redhawks' annual matchup with a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent. 

The Chippewas went 3-9 a year ago and finished last in the Mid-American Conference West Division with a 2-6 league mark. Southeast lost 44-27 at CMU in 2004 in the last meeting between the teams.

Southeast's first home game will be the following week, Sept. 8 against Division II Mars Hill (N.C.) College. The Lions went 8-3 en route to a conference title last season.

Southeast's final nonconference game will be Sept. 15 at SIU when the Redhawks and Salukis hook up for the 78th time. SIU, which is coming off a 4-7 season, routed Southeast 38-10 in Cape Girardeau last year.

The Redhawks play their first of eight straight Ohio Valley Conference games at home against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 22 during Family Weekend.

Southeast's other home dates are against Tennessee State (Oct. 13), Tennessee-Martin (Oct. 20) on Homecoming and Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 3).

The remainder of Southeast's schedule features trips to Jacksonville State (Sept. 29), Austin Peay (Oct. 27), Eastern Illinois (Nov. 10) and Murray State (Nov. 17).

Offense strong

Southeast's offense put up 28 points during Saturday's second spring scrimmage at Houck Stadium.

Kyle Snyder, a transfer quarterback from FBS Ohio University, passed for three touchdowns. He completed 7 of 11 for 113 yards.

Snyder and Spencer Davis hooked up on touchdown passes of 31 and 30 yards. D.J. Foster caught an 8-yarder from Snyder.

The Redhawks' final touchdown came on a 21-yard run by Levi Terrell. Terrell led Southeast rushers for the second straight scrimmage with 63 yards on just three carries.

Davis made a scrimmage-high four receptions for 84 yards, while Foster followed with three catches for 40 yards.

Scott Lathrop completed 4 of 4 passes for 34 yards.

Linebackers Blake Peiffer and Joey Lohmann led the defense in tackles with eight and seven, respectively.

The Redhawks conclude spring drills at noon Saturday with their annual intrasquad game pitting the offense against the defense.
