Three Southeast Missouri State men's basketball players have received all-district recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Sophomore forward Tyler Stone was named to the District 19 first team, with senior forward Leon Powell and junior guard Marland Smith earning second-team accolades.

Stone, a second-team all-Ohio Valley Conference selection, was Southeast's leading scorer and rebounder with averages of 14.7 points and 7.3 boards.

Powell led the OVC in field goal percentage (59.2) for the second straight year. He was the Redhawks' third-leading scorer (10.6 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (7.1 rpg) while recording a team-high 42 blocks.

Smith, Southeast's No. 2 scorer (12.3 ppg), led the Redhawks in 3-point field-goal percentage (39.9) and 3-pointers made (63).

Southeast's trio was among 10 OVC players, including five first-teamers, to receive all-district honors.

Softball

Southeast began a stretch of nine straight road games Wednesday by sweeping a nonconference doubleheader at Indiana State despite not scoring an earned run.

The Redhawks took the opener 4-0 and the nightcap 9-6. They took advantage of 11 errors. They committed only one error.

Southeast improved to 8-12 and won for the fourth time in its last five games. ISU fell to 11-7.

Alora Marble pitched a four-hit shutout in the opener. She struck out a career-high eight batters while issuing two walks.

The Redhawks had nine hits in the nightcap after getting four in the first game. Cheyenne Gipson and Alene Bethel both had two hits. Lindsey Patterson drove in two runs, and Renee Kertz scored three times.

Shea Cothren notched the victory in the circle by firing 2 2/3 hitless and scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Southeast has another nonleague doubleheader today, at Evansville, before resuming Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday with a twin bill at Eastern Kentucky.

Tennis

Southeast posted a 5-4 win at Division II Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday to improve to 3-5 and surpass its victory total from last year.

The Redhawks have won consecutive matches for the first time since 2008.

Southeast and UMSL (3-1) both won three singles matches, but the Redhawks claimed two of the three doubles matches.

The Redhawks received wins from Heather Robinson and Nikole Novikova at No. 2 and Elizabeth Nyenwe and Lauren Schaper at No. 3 after falling at No. 1 doubles.

Nyenwe, Jessica Courtnell and Melissa Martin were victorious in singles play.

Nyenwe and Martin both have won three straight singles matches. Martin leads Southeast with a 7-1 singles record.

The Redhawks begin OVC play Sunday at Tennessee-Martin.

Gymnastics

Southeast sophomore Megan Fosnow received her second Midwest Independent Conference gymnast of the week award of the season Wednesday.

Fosnow scored a career-best 39.125 in the all-around to finish second during Friday's home meet against 16th-ranked Auburn. She also was second on vault.

The Redhawks have their final home meet Friday when Texas Woman's University visits Houck Field House for a 6:30 p.m. start.
