The Southeast Missouri State softball team came close to sweeping its second road doubleheader in as many days.

But host Evansville scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of Thursday's nightcap to beat the Redhawks 5-4 and snap their four-game winning streak.

Southeast, which won the opener 6-1, has a 9-13 record. Evansville is 7-11.

Alora Marble notched her second complete-game victory in as many days in the circle, scattering 11 hits in the first game. She struck out four and walked one.

Southeast had 13 hits in the opener, led by Evan Sallis with three. Cheyenne Gipson, Lindsey Patterson and Taylor Cowan all added two hits.

Cowan was the second-game loser, allowing three earned runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. She was hurt by six walks.

Gipson and Kaitlin Wallace both had two of Southeast's seven hits.

Southeast resumes Ohio Valley Conference play with a doubleheader Saturday at Eastern Kentucky.
