The Southeast Missouri State women's tennis team split a pair of road matches over the weekend, losing to Jackson State 4-3 on Friday and beating Alabama A&M 7-0 on Saturday.

No. 1 Heather Robinson, No. 3 Nikole Novikova and No. 4 Jessica Courtnell all won both their singles matches for the Redhawks (2-2).

The Redhawks are off until March 16, when they open Ohio Valley Conference play at home against Eastern Illinois.

Track

Southeast sent a small group of athletes to Friday's Arkansas Final Qualifier in Fayetteville, Ark., home of this weekend's NCAA Division I Indoor Championships.

Craig Robinson, the Ohio Valley Conference champion in the weight throw, won the event with a distance of 61 feet, 4 3/4 inches.

Kevin Farley, the OVC champion in the shot put, earned a second-place finish in the event with a career-best 58-1 1/4.

Jill Schnurbusch, a Notre Dame Regional High School graduate, was seventh in the pole vault (12-10 3/4). Jerika Lewis finished seventh in the 200 meters (career-best 24.53 seconds).

Southeast likely will have one participant in in the NCAA Indoor Championships set for Friday and Saturday.

Junior Blake Carter entered the weekend tied for 10th nationally in the long jump with a mark of 25-6. The top 16 qualify. The official NCAA field will be announced today.
