The Southeast Missouri State women's soccer team stayed unbeaten on Sunday while earning longtime coach Heather Nelson her 200th career victory, a 1-0 win over host Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Nelson is 200-151-45 in her 22 years as a head coach. She was 31-44-5 in four seasons at Florida State and has amassed a 169-107-40 record during her 18-year coaching career with the Redhawks.

"Our players were in a great frame of mind going into the game," Nelson said in a press release.

Maggie Pike notched her first career goal for Southeast (4-0) in the fourth minute of the game on an assist from Natasha Minor and Jasmin Hilliard, chipping the ball over the goalkeeper and into the top right corner of the net.

The game was a homecoming of sorts for seven Redhawks, all of whom hail from the state of Wisconsin.

"It was exciting to play in front of so many family and friends from Wisconsin," Nelson said. "Maggie got us off to a great start with a blast that hit side netting."

UWM (2-1-1) entered the game having not been defeated in 13 contests, tying a school record during the 9-0-4 stretch.

Southeast, which was outshot 19-6, was forced to fend off a number of shots from the Panthers over the final 86 minutes of the game. Each team recorded four shots on goal.

Junior Kindra Lierz earned the shutout in the net for the Redhawks. She had four saves in securing the 19th solo shutout of her career.

"After the goal, Milwaukee pushed hard for the equalizer, but Kindra was outstanding in goal and shut down anything the Panthers threw her way," Nelson said.

Pike led Southeast with two shots, both on goal, while Lauren Kaempfe, Paige Blankenheim, Maria Salm and Jennifer Brien each recorded a shot.

The Redhawks had five players log the entire 90 minutes of the game, while all seven Wisconsin natives saw action, including five who started.

Southeast returns to action against Evansville at 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 in Evansville, Indiana.
