Southeast Missouri State's Ryan Rippee and Trevor Ezell were selected to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American teams, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced Tuesday.

Rippee, a senior first baseman, was named a second-team preseason All-American and Ezell, a sophomore second baseman, was named a third-team preseason All-American.

"To have two players named on the preseason All-American team is quite an honor for our program," Southeast coach Steve Bieser said in a press release. "Both Ryan and Trevor are very deserving to be named to these teams. They put together a really solid season last year and have been putting in the necessary work to have a big 2016 season."

Rippee, who was a second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection last season, batted .299 with 56 RBIs in his first season at Southeast after transferring from Jefferson College.

The Springfield, Missouri, native had 12 home runs, 17 doubles and had 19 multi-RBI games, which tied for the team lead.

He committed just two errors at first base in 55 starts.

Ezell, who was named a second-team freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and was selected to the OVC All-Newcomer team last year, batted .313 and led the team with 66 runs, which was one short of tying the program's single-season record.

The Redhawks' leadoff batter hit 18 doubles and led the conference with six triples. He had 42 RBIs, tied for the team lead with 41 walks and led the Redhawks with 11 stolen bases.

His 246 at-bats set a school single-season record.

Other OVC players named to the preseason All-American teams were Belmont second baseman Tyler Fullerton and Eastern Kentucky outfielder Kyle Nowlin. Both were third-team selections.

The two-time defending OVC regular-season champion Redhawks, who finished last season with a record of 36-23 and 22-8 in conference, received votes in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper's Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I preseason poll.

Southeast opens its season at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, on Feb. 19.
