Scott County Central senior Stewart Johnson knew his teammate wasn't feeling well.

Johnson responded by scoring 27 points in the Braves' Class 1 sectional game against Risco.

SCC star Otto Porter was feeling under the weather for the sectional game, so Johnson took it on his shoulders to create offensive chances for the Braves.

"Stewart just did a good job of seeing the floor and finding the open man and seeing his opportunities where he could get to the hole and get the bucket," SCC coach Kenyon Wright said after the sectional victory. "He finishes well around the basket most of the time."

Johnson helped push the Braves into the Class 1 final four by scoring 20 points in Saturday's Class 1 quarterfinal against Chadwick.

"We just knew we was in way better shape than them," Johnson said after the quarterfinal win. "We run a lot and it pays off. We just wanted to get out there and play aggressive defense and get them tired. Once we got them tired, we know we was going to go on our roll."

Johnson is the Braves' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 13 points per game. Johnson will try to help the Braves capture their third consecutive state championship when they face Jefferson in Thursday's semifinal at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo.
