All the weekend's news from the world of Southeast Missouri State athletics.

The Southeast Missouri State men's cross country team finished in the top four at the Ohio Valley Conference meet for the fifth straight season as the Redhawks nabbed second place during Saturday's 10-team competition held in Cookeville, Tenn.

Southeast's women were fifth. Eastern Kentucky's men and women both captured their fifth straight titles.

The Southeast men scored 55 points. Eastern Kentucky romped with 15 points, while Eastern Illinois was third with 95 points.

Senior Jason Lumpkin led Southeast with a sixth-place finish to earn first team all-OVC honors. The top seven make first team. He completed the 8K course in 25 minutes, 44.7 seconds.

Three Southeast runners made second team all-OVC for placing in the top 14. Senior Chris Loseman was eighth (25:56.32), junior Nate Shipley was ninth (25:58.93) and senior Dustin Davis was 13th (26:14.00).

Rounding out Southeast's scorers was sophomore Tyler Mullen (20th, 26:44.63).

Southeast's women scored 158 points. Eastern Kentucky had 25 points, followed by Murray State (111) and Jacksonville State (119).

Senior Kasey Owens paced Southeast with a second team all-OVC showing of 13th place. Her time in the 5K was 19:11.09.

Senior Monica Noble was 18th (19:40.38), followed by junior Liz Speicher (31st, 20:03.37), sophomore Tiffany Mead (49th, 21:03.51), and sophomore Christy Hazel (52nd, 21:28.75).

Southeast squads will finish the season Nov. 13 at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill.

Volleyball splits

The Southeast volleyball team broke a seven-match losing streak Saturday by beating host Eastern Kentucky 25-17, 14-25, 25-20, 10-25, 15-12.

That came after the Redhawks were routed at Ohio Valley Conference leader Morehead State 25-17, 25-7, 25-14 on Friday.

Southeast is 6-18 overall and 3-10 in OVC play. The Redhawks are tied for last in the 10-team league.

Freshman Andrea Baylin had a double-double with 14 kills and 19 digs.

Southeast posted two more doubles as senior Claire Keaton had 13 kills and 18 digs, while freshman setter Julie Shives recorded 40 assists and 15 digs.

Senior Kelly Benacka led in digs with 30.

In the match against Morehead State, freshman Berkley Idel had 19 digs and Benacka added 14 digs.

The Redhawks have another OVC road match Tuesday at Eastern Illinois.
