Mack cruised to two wins over weekend

Joey Mack of Benton put together an impressive month of auto racing in May.

Mack won two events and had three top-10 finishes. His victories were Friday at the Malden Speedway and Saturday at the Poplar Bluff Speedway. He earned $2,100 with the two wins.

Mack placed sixth May 20 at Malden.

He will run this weekend and next at Malden on Fridays and Poplar Bluff on Saturdays before returning to te Mid America Racing Series on June 17 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Peterman medalist for JC Ladies Golf

Deanna Peterman was the medalist Tuesday in the JC Ladies Golf Association event at Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.

Kim Kelley won the B class, and Carol Brown had the low putts.

Mary Van Cleve won the play of the day, which was closest to the pin on No. 12.

Clarification

Greg Gibson of the Southeast Aquatic League was listed among the fastest swimmers in the Ozark Conference for the 200 backstroke, but his ranking was not included in Thursday's edition. Gibson ranks fourth.
