PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- The Heartland Nationals 12-under girls softball team has split its first two games in pool play of the Babe Ruth World Series.

Based out of Benton, Mo., the Nationals suffered their first tournament loss Sunday, falling to Pitt County, N.C., 7-3. In Saturday night's tourney opener, the Nationals beat host Pine Bluff, Ark., 3-2.

The Nationals had just three hits Sunday while losing pitcher Louise Blankenship allowed 15 hits and all seven runs in six innings.

Miranda Schlosser worked all six innings for Saturday's victory, allowing two hits. The Nationals had four hits.

Heartland will play its next game Tuesday against Hoquiam, Wash.
