PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Tyler Wengert celebrated his return to the mound in top form as St. Vincent edged St. Pius 1-0 on Monday.
Wengert, out with a sprained ankle for several games, showed the form that has earned him all-state honors as he shut down St. Pius on no hits, with nine strikeouts and one walk.
"He kept the ball down and had a good curveball today that really kept them off balance," St. Vincent coach Rick Wibbenmeyer said.
Wengert (1-2) got the only run he needed in the first inning when Brett Richardet doubled home Adam Bockman, who had reached on an error.
St. Vincent (2-9) managed only two hits against Andy Pollitte, who took the loss.
Scott City 4, Woodland 0
SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Scott City scored three unearned runs as the Rams blanked Woodland behind the two-hit pitching of Jason Umfleet.
Scott City (4-4) scored the only runs it would need in the first inning off losing pitcher Kyle Long when an outfielder dropped a flyball with two outs.
Umfleet struck out 12 and walked two in going the distance. Long allowed three hits in four innings.
Oak Ridge 16, SCC 6
MORLEY, Mo. -- Jeff Cowan went 3-for-3 with five RBIs as Oak Ridge rolled to a five-inning victory.
Cowan's hits included an RBI double and a two-run triple.
Seth Stahlheber had a 4-for-4 performance at the plate and Clayton Ruesler had two hits as Oak Ridge (4-3) banged out 12 hits overall.
Trailing 5-4 entering the bottom of the third, the Blue Jays pushed across seven runs.
Matt Kight (1-0) allowed three hits, struck out five and walked nine.
Leopold 22, Zalma 5
LEOPOLD, Mo.-- Leopold's offense came alive with 11 runs in the fourth and Brandon Bueter pitched a complete game, recording 10 strikeouts in the Wildcat win.
Josh Van de Ven led Leopold with four RBIs and three stolen bases and Kevin Holzum added three RBIs. Scott VanGennip added a solo home run as Leopold improved to 4-3.

BENTON, Mo. -- Monica Senciboy tripled in the game-tying run in the third inning and scored the game-winner on a squeeze bunt by Kelly Essner to lift Kelly (9-0) past Egyptian.
Dana Essner (5-0) pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts.
Senciboy and Christy Kluesner led the Hawks with two hits each.
Delta 13, Charleston 5
CHARLESTON, Mo.-- Despite nine walks, Sarah Cook got the win for Delta with seven strikeouts.
Ashley Martin led Delta with three RBIs.
Leopold 5, Scott City 3
SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Leopold scored all its runs in the top of the sixth inning as it improved to 7-0 on the season.
Holly Jansen had a two-run triple as the Wildcats exploded for five of their six hits off losing pitcher Shana Wadlington during the outburst.
Winning pitcher Melinda Trankle (7-0) struck out three, walked three and gave up six hits. Leopold's Kyla Horrell had two hits, including a double.
Wadlington, who struck out 15 batters and walked two, had two hits for Scott City (6-4-1).
Oak Ridge 21 Scott County Central 1
JACKSON, Mo. -- Oak Ridge was issued 14 walks and added six hits in a three-inning victory over Scott County Central.
Jenny Hrabick, who had three RBIs, and Mindy Ruch each had a double for Oak Ridge (4-3-1).

Sikeston Invitational
SIKESTON, Mo. -- Medalist Ben Brumitt fired a 2-over-par 73 at Sikeston Country Club as Poplar Bluff won the 14-team Sikeston Invitational by 10 strokes.
Poplar Bluff finished with a 302 total and was followed by Sikeston (312) and Jackson (314). Central (323) finished sixth, St. Vincent (325) placed seventh and Notre Dame (362) took 11th.

SIKESTON,Mo.-- Liz Nussbaum and Molly Hartmann each had two goals as Jackson rolled past Sikeston.

Notre Dame 1 Poplar Bluff 0 (OT)
Brittney Little lifted Notre Dame to an overtime victory with the game's only goal.
Little scored off a pass from Sierra Ellis as Notre Dame improved to 7-2-1. The shot was the Bulldogs' 20th of the game.
St. Vincent 4, Brentwood 1
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Caitlyn Hoeh scored St. Vincent's first three goals and assisted on a fourth goal as the Squaws defeated Brentwood.
Joy Donze and Chelsey Brown assisted on Hoeh's two first-half goals. Hoeh, who leads the team with 14 goals, then scored off a pass from Jessica Berhle in the second half. Brown closed the scoring, depositing a pass from Hoeh.
St. Vincent improved to 5-7-1.

N. Dame 89, Principia 84
ST. LOUIS -- Notre Dame collected nine first-place finishes as it improved to 3-8 in dual matches.
Lindsay Kuper (100 and 200 freestyles) and Meggie Glastteter (200 IM, 100 backstroke) each had two individual first places.
Track & Field
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Scott City captured both the boys' and girls' divisions of the Chaffee meet.
On the boys' side, Scott City could manage wins in only the 400- and 800-meter relays, but used an abundance of second and third-place finishes to edge Portageville 108 to 102.
In the girls' division, the Rams ran away from the competition with 144 points to 89 for second-place Kelly.
Loren Groves led Scott City with four victories, while freshman distance runner Alisha Obermann won the 800 and 1600 meters.
