Members of the Southeast Missouri State football team claimed at least a share of three of the four weekly honors handed out by the Ohio Valley Conference, it was announced Sunday.
The Redhawks defeated Murray State 27-10 on Saturday night to improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the OVC.
Senior wide receiver Paul McRoberts was named Offensive Player of Week after making eight catches, two of which were spectacular, for 169 yards and two touchdowns. His diving catch in the third quarter was the No. 5 play on SportsCenter's Top 10 on Saturday night.
Junior running back Tremane McCullough, a transfer, was named Newcomer of the Week after rushing for 220 yards and a touchdown against the Racers. He also caught four passes for 18 yards.
Sophomore linebacker Chad Meredith was named Co-Defensive Player of the Week along with Eastern Kentucky linebacker Chris Kelly.
Meredith had 10 tackles, including two for a loss, and three quarterback hurries against Murray State. He made one of the most important defensive plays of the game when he tackled Racers receiver Jeremy Harness for a 10-yard loss on a reverse attempt on fourth down with 5 minutes, 17 seconds remaining.
