Southeast Missouri will be buzzing with sports activity this weekend. In addition to the usual high school contests and home series for both the Southeast Missouri State baseball and softball teams, the sporting schedule includes some events out of the ordinary:

The Central High School lacrosse program, playing its second season, will host Eureka at 5:30 p.m. today at the Southeast sports complex, located at Sprigg and Bertling.

The Southeast Area Special Olympics Track and Field Meet is set for Saturday. The event will begin at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies; track events start at 10:30 a.m. The meet will take place at the Cape Central Junior High track.

The Kohlfield Scorpions rugby team plays 1 p.m. Saturday at Arena Park in a Western Rugby Union challenge match against a team from Albuquerque, N.M. The winner advances to the Western Rugby Union event in Dallas in May.

The Auto Tire and Parts NAPA RacePark in Benton, Mo., hosts a night of racing, including a dwarf cars feature. The card begins at 7 p.m.

The Missouri High School Rodeo Association stops at Flickerwood Arena this weekend for the Jackson Invitational. Performances are set for 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
