On Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, my loving husband, our beloved dad, and our devoted paw-paw, Terry A. Huckstep, was called home. He passed away with loved ones at his side. He fought a long and courageous 12-year battle with cancer.

Terry was born May 2, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, son of Willman A. and Zola Stoops Huckstep.

He was a 1965 graduate of Central High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

He and Phyllis Patrick were married Feb. 11, 1968.

Terry was a deputy sheriff with Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department from 1970 to 1977. He was currently owner of Southeast Missouri Dental Lab Inc., having purchased the business from his father. Terry was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his parents, Willman and Zola Huckstep of Cape Girardeau; his wife, Phyllis of Jackson; a son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Tamara Huckstep of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Danny Foltz of Marble Hill, Mo.; his pride and joy, five grandchildren, Trever, Monica and Olivia Foltz, Kayla and Lydia Huckstep; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Polly Huckstep and Gary and Cathy Huckstep, all of Jackson.

Terry enjoyed life to the fullest. He liked hunting and was an avid crappie fisherman. He will be dearly and sadly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
