Scott County man given prison sentence

Edward P. Biler, 28, of Scott County, was sentenced Monday to 70 months in prison for attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. Upon release, Biler will be on supervised release for five years.

He appeared before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber.

Biler admitted that on Sept. 30, numerous items used in the making of the drug were seized by officers from his person, home and vehicle.

Prior to the search, SEMO Drug Task Force officers had been tipped off by employees at the Cape Girardeau Target store that Biler was buying psuedoephedrine pills and proceeding to Wal-Mart, where officers found him buying more pills.

Sikeston man gets 10 years for crack

James R. Warfield, 26, of Sikeston, Mo., was sentenced Tuesday in federal court to 10 years in prison on two felony counts for distributing cocaine base.

He appeared before U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber.

On March 11, 2002, Warfield sold 7.3 grams of cocaine base, or crack, to a confidential informant in Sikeston for $250. The next day, he sold 6.1 grams of crack to an informant in Sikeston for $200.
